Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer and the third leading cause of cancer death in both men and women in the United States. About 148000 new colorectal cancer cases are diagnosed each year. Screening can prevent many cases of colorectal cancer. Dr. Michael Schmalz, gastroenterologist at Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center, explains what happens next when a patient's colonoscopy shows cause for concern.
