1 Minute Colonoscopy
Full insertion of colonoscope to the cecum in about 1 minute: Between two phases of colonoscopy examination (insertion and withdrawal), a greater variability often exists in the time expended for instrument insertion. Factors affecting the difficulty and time spent in the intubation of colonoscope may include age, sex, relative obesity (BMI), history of abdominal or pelvic surgery, and bowel preparation. Although attention to detail, comfort, and safety is paramount in achieving quality colonoscopic examination, expeditious insertion may be advantageous in minimizing patient discomfort and reducing potential adverse effects.
