Colitis Vlog: Greetings from My Colon: April 3, 2011: Feeling Better Update

Sorry it has been so long since I have done a video. Been busy healing and actually having some fun. Something I have not had in a long time. With the abscess complication I had by my stoma I was in the hospital for about a week. Then I was sent home to take care of it there. The Doctor took great care of me. It took a long time to heal because of the Steroids and Immune Suppressors I was on to try and control the Colitis. That abscess is currently healed. I do have some bruising on the other side of my stoma, but that is currently draining. I had one Barium Study done on my J-Pouch. There was no leaking with that one so that is good. I have had two scopes of my J-Pouch. I was sedated for both of them because my pain receptors are really messed up. The Doctor wanted me to be as comfortable as possible so he could get a thorough look at it. The first went well he just had to do some stitching so it would be anchored to my sphincter a lot better. The second one I had was to check on the stitched area and to make sure it was still healed nicely. In a week I will have another Barium Study to make sure that the stitched area is good and no leaks occur. Hopefully all goes well and I will have my J-Pouch connected up soon. This time with the stoma has been really good for me. I know it seems like a long time, but I know my Doctor wants me to be in the best physical condition possible. I was really sick so it takes time to heal. Thanks again to my Dad for holding the camera. Lots …
